Starting off with a meme!

list the first line of your last 10 (posted) fics and see if there's a pattern

1. a question of time (Homestuck/Puella Magi Madoka Magica crossover)

Monday morning, and Dave Strider was already checking off several tropes.

2. Orange Crush in a Japanese Xmas set (Side story for the above crossover)

Dave should have realized that like everything that he’d experienced since he’d come to Mitakihara, Christmas in Japan only shared the same name as Christmas in the States.

3. all bets are off (when you're an honest liar (Zootopia, Nick stayed in the mafia!AU)

The bar, with mega fauna in high energy and rough housing each other, reminded Judy of the ZPD bull pen on Monday morning.

4. If I Knew You Were Coming, I'd Have Baked A Cake (Zootopia, Part 2 of the above Mafia!AU)

Everyone in the mob knew Koslov liked parties.

5. Mercy (Zootopia, Part 3 of the above Mafia!AU)

Nick had just barely rolled himself into his pull out bed like a lump of limp linen when his phone started buzzing.

6. the map that leads to you (such a heavenly view) (Zootopia/Star Trek crossover)

They had an unwritten rule in Comms - never get attached to Away teams.

7. true colours (burn those jet pack blues) (Sequel to the above crossover)

Judy Hopps had made many sacrifices when she enlisted for Starfleet.

8. Exorcist Blues (Wilde Spirit remix) (Zootopia AR where Judy Hopps is an exorcist)

"Is it evil spirits this time Mom?"

9. Wilde Spirit (The Karmic Shuffle) (Sequel to the Exorcist!AR)

Nick's repeated visits to Cliffside didn't make him like the place any better.

10. i carry your heart (i carry it in // my heart) (Part 3 of the Exorcist!AR)

Judy had grown up on her family farm.

Pattern: Holy BALD STATEMENT Batman! All my fics seem to start with a sharp statement that I either lean into in the next sentence, or completely contradict. But it makes me roll laughing with how short my sentences are.

I should update Wilde Spirits but this is late enough as it is. This was posted on AO3 on 15 Jan, and only made it here two weeks later.

Teaser and summary: "My name? With a name like Nick Wilde, why would I be embarrassed of anything?"
"Nick of the nicknames? A little too fitting." Judy sat back in her seat at the bar, with her arms crossed. "Are you pulling my leg with a fake name?"
Nick - if that was even his name - shrugged off her comment. "Maybe I am. And what's your fake name, beautiful?"

Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde have a different meet cute when Judy joins the force earlier - he tries to pick her up at a bar. Banter and flirting send temperatures sky rocketing, but is that all that's going on?

Rating: M
Genre: Shippy canon divergence

I can't believe I forgot I was backing this up!

Summary:(Star Trek and Zootopia crossover) Judy Hopps doesn't do diplomacy. Nick Wilde doesn't do Away missions. Both of them are going to have to make up for what the other lacks if they're going to survive Draconis and maybe save Captain Bogo while they're at it.

Sequel to "the map that leads to you". Features Judy firing big guns, Nick sassing everyone and romance on a planet where reptiles are the dominant species and mammals are not.

Rating: T
Genre: Gen, slices of romance, sci-fi, action/adventure
Warnings for: Fantastic racism, if Nick had a tombstone it would read "dead from deadpan", STAGGERING LEVELS OF COMPETENCY

I continue to be horrible at updating things. This was posted on AO3 on 9 August, and updated on 15 August. And now it's finally here.

Summary:(Star Trek and Zootopia crossover) Nick knows the rules in Communications, including this unwritten one: never get attached to Away teams. But Ensign Judy Hopps from Security keeps making it back. Missing her check in with Nick just doesn't happen.

Until it does. Now it's up to Nick and the starship crew led by Captain Bogo to bring their Away team back.

I've convinced myself that the more something matters to me, the harder it is for me to talk about it. I'm sure you all have realised that I'm pretty tangled up in Zootopia since I saw it on March 17. I've actually held back on writing about it because I thought it would be too hard to put into words.

But I went back to flip through what I wrote the day after, and... it's actually pretty coherent. Some edits to the reaction for flow:

OTP squee under the cut )

So it's probably BS that I can't write reactions immediately. Especially because Nick the Snickers bar is a comparison that is GOLD and would never have occurred to me now. Even if it's true. I should totally write more immediate reactions.

The only thing I have to add is that since the movie, I've dedicated 79,528 (published) words as variations on the above theme, which I should really catch up on updating. I have more waiting in the wings! This OTP gets me so hard that I have to keep exploring it through fic.

Summary: After being framed for a murder in his speakeasy Wilde Times 50 years ago, Nick Wilde has lingered on as a spirit. Judy Hopps, an exorcist set on finding out more about the past, is his chance of righting past wrongs, and uncovering the true cause of why collars were abolished.

Recipe for this fic:
Take the original movie concepts - collars, the 1960s, Judy chasing Nick through Little Rodentia, with more to come. Add to the actual Zootopia movie. Blend well, with a dash of the supernatural to spice.
Rating: T
Genre: Gen
Warnings for: Supernatural elements, mythical beings and vague references to the Chinese Taoist religious system. Lots of references to off-screen character death

Wilde Spirit (The Karmic Shuffle)

Summary: What if predators used to be collared in Zootopia's distant past?

Nick Wilde didn't ask to die after being framed for a murder in his speakeasy Wilde Times, but he's spent enough years as a spirit to prefer to forget what happened 50 years ago.
