When Kyouko tries for words and her father tries for action, they both fail.
Mami spoke the right words, but her actions betrayed her true beliefs. Kyouko pares Mami’s attacks down to the bare truth and wins the right to leave.

Sayaka didn’t pay any attention to where she is walking, and is surprised to find herself back at Kyouko’s church. Without Kyouko, she feels uncomfortable. She is not Christian, and the only other time she had been in a church was for Kyousuke’s performance. She calls up the treasured memory – the sweet sound of the violin and the colours the stained glass windows threw upon his arms.
Yes, she should remember that was the miracle that she wished for. But as the rays of the sun slant away from the church windows, she finds it harder and harder to recall.

Series: Puella Magi Madoka Magica
Character: Mami
Rating: G
Content Notes: Mami reflects on her life. Spoilers for Mami's backstory/A Different Story manga series
When Mami feels the magic girls struggling with the witch, she doesn’t think about territories – she immediately heads to rescue them. The girls have already defeated the familiars. That lets her bind the witch fast with her ribbons, followed by her guns to destroy it.
The girls are thankful, but not thankful enough to stay. As they leave, one of them calls out, “We won’t forget you!”
Alone again, Mami looks over the city and smiles. She had saved both magic girls and other humans from the witch. That was good enough. (It doesn’t matter that her smile is sad.)
