Title: At World's End
Summary: A cultist predicted the world's governments and economies would fail on 30 June 2012, and that he and his followers would undergo a transformation that would allow them to fly and walk through walls. No really

The thing about becoming an Avenger was that you got the weirder missions. Clint had sat in a nest and plucked off targets from afar, but this was the first time that he was picking off people that were trying to walk through a wall in order to rob a bank.
He winced when one of his electroshock arrows caused a man to pass out while in the process of walking through the wall. He hung with his head, arm and leg dangling on the side of the wall that Clint could see, propped up by the wall itself. His partners in crime tugged the limbs that they could reach, without any success in pulling the man out. Good to know that this weird power wasn't transferrable, though that would make it a lot harder to arrest the stuck robber.
Giving up on rescuing their accomplice, the other robbers started to argue while jabbing fingers in Clint's direction. Clint rolled his eyes as he started to relocate. After dealing with professionals who would never let on that they knew his position like that, he found himself frustrated with their antics.
Frustration gave way to fluster when one of hooded figures suddenly launched himself into the air, floating upwards in a trajectory that would take him towards Clint's old hiding place. So these weirdos could walk through walls and fly?
Clint switched on the team comms to alert the others sof the situation. "No shit, Sherlock," snapped Tony, which meant that Clint wasn't the only one who had seen the robber druids fly.
Tony's sarcasm was about normal, which meant that he wasn't in any immediate danger although his suit was probably dented to hell. Clint didn't rendevous with Tony and instead took up a new position to shoot down the now flying robbers. Walking through walls, flying - what was next? Telepathic powers?
He was glad when the last of them was bagged - finally he could get some answers.
Clint regretted asking when it came to interrogation time. Turned out that the last power was more "insanity" than "telepathy". Natasha didn't even have to apply her preferred bad cop routine before the robber started babbling.
"We're better than human now! Here at the end of the world, our leader made sure that we were the chosen ones!"
"Yeah? How did you figure that out?"
"Did you not see our powers? How we snubbed our noses at all the physical barriers the world put in front of us?"
"Like flying and walking through walls?" Natasha intoned her in dryest voice.
The robber nodded vigorously. "Is that not amazing?"
"I dunno, I would think the chosen ones had more power than that," Clint remarked.
"You have not such gifts, so you scorn us!"
"What about robbing the bank? How does that fit into the life of a chosen one?"
"The world's economies are about to crash. We were relieving you of all that useless money?"
"Oh yeah," Clint intoned. "What else do you do at the end of the world? I bet that being able to spend it is just the cherry on top."
The robber failed to pick up on the sarcasm. "I look forward to seeing you burn as the world ends."
"Yeah, I'd like to know when that happens too." Clint headed out, and Natasha followed.
"Is it just me or are the apocalypses getting stranger?" she remarked.
"Comes with the Avengers gig," Clint concluded, and took her out for coffee.
